Why we developed noise cancellation that’s tuned specifically to retail
Noisy environments can be a real challenge for retail teams, especially when they need to collaborate across large-footprint stores. Traditional noise-cancelling headsets are designed to remove all background noise (whether that be human voices or the sound of an aircraft engine), but this approach simply isn’t sophisticated enough when large teams are trying to collaborate in a busy store. This is where our historic obsession with audio quality and our ambition to champion end-user comfort through Series 5 Pro naturally meet. We’ve reached beyond how the physical Headset feels and into audio comfort, to ensure our bespoke design delivers a 360° user experience that meets the specific needs of shop floor teams.
To achieve this, we went back to the source, studying and sampling soundscapes from a variety of retail stores. We then used this data to fine-tune our algorithm to recognise the specific background noise found in retail stores and eliminate it. This includes everything from bleeping checkouts and rattling trolleys to the high-pitched whine of timber cutting.
But the real magic of our retail-specific, environmental noise cancelling is that it allows us to protect voice audio within its own dedicated window. As a result, colleagues only hear crystal-clear voice through their Series 5 Pro Headsets, making the conferencing model even more effective by ensuring every colleague can communicate clearly with their team – even at peak times in the noisiest parts of their store.
